¿ Burger-Time ?

Hey guys!! This is my fifth Blog and first of all I want to thank all my followers because my last Blog had the most viewers so far. This Blog comes quite quick after my last Blog because I have an other re-examination, so I don't have time to study and to write Blogs at the same time... So to start I will talk about the differences that still are in our world. I think all the people who read my Blogs are civilized people. We all have a cellphone, a personal computer, a house and a home...But I was reading The Economist today where I read a quite bizarre article. There is still a enormous difference in wages and in purchase power. The UBS , a Swiss bank, has compared the minutes which people, in different countries, have to work before they can buy a same standard item. A beef-burger. First of all, as pescotarian I discourage people to buy Big Macs, but that doesn't matter right now. The results were very stunning! Chicagoans and the residents of Tokyo and Toronto only have to work 12 minutes before they can buy a Big Mac in their local McDonald's restaurant. By contrast, employees in Mexico City, Jakarta or Nairobi have to work almost 160 minutes to buy a burger. In that time Chicogoans can buy 10 burgers!! I also don't know how to solve this difference, but as blogger I have to talk about such items although I can't change the world. But like I already said one's I can't change the world but maybe I can change some people's view on it....The only thing I can do is to advice people to go on holidays in those regions because tourist boost the economy. My second item is also economy-related. Barack Obama nominated Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Fed. His first term does not expire until next January but Mr Obama already made his decision. I think it is a very good decision to put Bernanke back at the top because of 2 reasons. First of all, Bernanke survived the worst financial crises since the 1930s. So I think when there would be an other financial crises Mr Bernanke is THE man to know what to do. Second, When they replace Mr Bernanke who would they take? Of course there are full successors. Their choice would be a democratic. I think it isn't the right moment to merge politics and economy in this stadium of the crisis. They economy is reviving so it's better to concentrate on the evolution of the crisis instead of to discuss whether it would be a democrat or republican...So that's it for today! See you soon! And remember: Go crazy but be informed!

Two Pieces of Art...

Hey guys !! it's a few days ago that I posted my last Blog but I had a re-examination so I had to concentrate on some other things... With this Blog I also want to encourage all my fellow students who have to deal with re-examinations!! Good luck guys!! I was surfing the net today and I saw something very special. Horimono, it's a Japanese form of full body tattoos. The only places on their bodies where they don't have any tattoos are their hands, feet and faces... So if they wear winter wear or a suit, to go to work, you don't even notice that their bodies are overloaded with tattoos. It's maybe better that way, because when you have your whole body tattooed it's often a sign that you are a member of Yakuza, one of Japan's most dangerous organizations. I should better say art pieces, instead of tattoos, because those aren't simple tattoos of a dolphin or salamander. It's often a story that they want to tell or statement they want to make. I saw a girl who had a picture of her best friend (25) who passed away due to cancer. The tattoo-artist copied the picture on her arm. It was so good, so realistic, just unbelievable. I almost got tears in my eyes. It really was such a beautiful story! I don't thing I would have the guts to tattoo my whole body or even just a small item... I just can't imagine that I would be 75 years old and the tattoo would look like a picture on a wrinkled piece of paper...But all the respect towards them who have those beautiful art pieces on their bodies! My second Item in this Blog is Michael Jackson. It's now almost 2 months ago that he passed away. He was and still is 'The King of Pop”. The only thing I can't understand is why so many people have to start making up some rumours. Nowadays a lot of people say that his gorgeous children, Prince Michael and Paris Michael, aren't his. Why would it matter? Imagine that it is proven that one or both of the children aren't Michael's... What do you reach with it? The only thing you do is destroying a close family. And imagine yourself when you are at the age of 11 and they tell you that your father isn't your father. Especially when you hear it when the man who you thought was your father just passed away...In one word just horrible....

Kim only back for 80%

Hey guys, not that good news today...Kim Cijsters just lost her Quarter-final in Cincinnati against Dinara Safina (1) in 2 sets 2-6, 5-7. It was only Kim's third match since her come back. She played a very good match, but she missed some routine in her game. Her service was definitely not bad but she missed some speed in it. On the other hand, she had a tremendous en powerfull backhand! Strong on her both feet, all her weight in it and with the force like she has never been gone! But Safina got the upper hand. Safina played a very determined match, didn't make a lot of (big) mistakes, overall the deserved winner. At last she is worlds number one... In 2 weeks it's the start of the last Grand Slam of this year, the US Open. Who will go for the title? Will it be Safina's first GS victory? Will it be an old fashioned Williams final? or will it be Clijsters second Grand Slam victory? She won the US Open in 2005 and it definitely is playing top 10 level now... Will it be top 5 level in 2 weeks? I hope so!! My second Item of my blog is world economy! I know for a lot of people not that interesting but how can you live in a world when you only know the good stuff about it. What concerns me is the declining inflation. At this moment deflation is -0,7% which means that the prices of the good become cheaper... and the inflation is still declining! Please people buy goods!! don't wait for the prices to decline more! They will but when you want to go out of our "recent" recession than don't postpone your purchases!! A deflation ( negative inflation) is a real disaster! better a high inflation than an deflation. A deflation is a negative coil... It is a very simple economic chain. Prices go down, people postpone, supply is too big and we have even bigger and worse recession. So one good advice: let's spend some money... !! See you on my next blog and remember 'go crazy but be informed!'

Someone's in Between

Hey guys this is my second blog. I got some nice reaction of my friends where i'm very happy for! This blog actually is inpired by 2 songs "Anytime you need a friend" by Mariah Carey and " In Between" by, one of Hollands biggest performers, Wouter Hamel. Sometimes I ask myself: ' what's the definition of a good friend?' and I really don't know an answer on that one. Someone who alarms you when they see trouble, someone who helps you out of trouble or someone who keeps you out of trouble? Everyone has difficulties which we have to deal with. Everyone needs somebody in life, I definitely do not deny that! But the way some people are in our life scares me. I really don't believe people have to stick together like bangers to mash or bees to honey. A good friend or partner is someone who is standing by you, more like an adviser. At some point in our life we leave our parents (or sometimes they leave us) and we need new adviser in our life. I don't believe someone can be your everything. When only one person is somebody else his/her everything our life's will become too narrow-minded. You really don't have to agree on what i'm saying but than leave a reaction so we all can discuss about it! But I hope everyone agrees on my second topic! Typhoon Morakot, which crossed Taiwan, killed a lot of people and destroyed hundreds of people's homes! I really was ( and still being) shocked when I saw an entire house just fall into a river. Imagine something like that happens with your home, your cosy couch or your warm bed... they also just need someone in between...

Kim Clijsters: Back on Track

Yes it is ... This is my first blog... People all over the world are writing blogs. I thought what they can, can I. The purpose of my blogs is to discuss all hot items in the world with you. From business to showbizz, sports to fashion, national to international news. I really think that there are a lot of people who don't know enought of what is going on in our world. We all live together in one world, we can't change anything about it, so why don't make the best of it and live together in harmony. Black or white, gay or straight, men or women, rich or poor. I can't change the world, but maybe I can change the way some people look at our world. I live in Belgium and I thought: "When is right moment to start writing a blog?". At this moment, while I'm writing this blog Kim Clijster ( former WTA number one player) is returning to full competition! She will compete against Marion Bartoli (12). I really hope Kim wins her first match ( and also a lot of others). Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin had the upper had for a long time but they both retired. Belgium is so happy that we have our champion back! Go for it Kim, Belgium keeps his fingers crossed!
